I LOVE Christmas!!!

I just love Christmas time and all it entails!! It's about tradition, and family, and love for me. And I hear people freaking out already that I didn't say Jesus, but for me, He is in the middle of ALL of those things.  But I am always not one of those moms that turns away from all things Santa, trees, tinsel, or snowmen. I don't mean any offense to anyone....it's how I choose to parent. We can do both and it's ok. I love Christmas deocrating. I love manger scenes. I love nutcrackers. I love red and green. I love snowflakes. I love all the decoration that I have from my Gramma. I love all the ornaments the kids have made over the years. I love white lights. For me, tomorrow is the day to get out all this Christmas. I remember when Dean and I first got married, the girls warned him that mom goes a LITTLE overboard at Christmas time. LOL He wasn't sure what to expect. But just the other day he told me to do MORE! SO today I got a new little manger scene, a stacking russian doll style Santa, and a beautiful handmade dough bowl to create a centerpiece with.

Other than decorating, one of my favorite things in the season is our family advent calendar. Here's how it works....every day in the month of December leading up to Christmas Day, we have a surprise family activity to do. Some days it's as simple as filling out our Christmas cards together to mail out. Other days it's going to Hollywild. Sometimes we cook for a family, or make cookies for a fire department. Sometimes it's having a hot cocoa party. Each year there are things that the kids expect to see in the advent calendar, and then there are some that are complete surprises. That's what keeps it fun in my mind!! So, about this time of the year, I start planning out the calendar. Making lists of what I need each week for the activities (most of which I can get at Dollar Tree. Have I said how much I love the Dollar Tree????) I have some new tricks up my sleeve this year, hehehehehehehehehehe!

Christmas to me is about family, and memories (new and old), and traditions (new and old), and love for everyone! It's a time to slow down and enjoy all of our blessings, and thank God for all He has given us yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

P.S. If you are interested in a copy of my advent calendar ideas for this year, I am happy to send you a copy. I didn't want to post it here in case my nosey girls might actually see it here. LOL
